Constipation Needs Natural Constipation Cure

by Brad Marshall

Constipation can quickly become part of a busy lifestyle with a multitude of healthy - and unhealthy - food choices at anyone’s fingertips. That being said, it’s not uncommon for a healthy person to sometimes suffer from constipation. Sadly, there’s a slight chance that brief constipation could evolve into a form of continual fecal impaction which calls for crucial action to prevent any serious penalty to the body.

To offset fecal impaction and transitory constipation, it’s clever to start with by looking at your diet. While a multitude of people are now attempting to eat healthy, it’s occurred to many experts that diet may not be the only constipation culprit. It may not be the foods you put into your body, but how you actually eat them. In truth, digestion honestly begins in the mouth where correct chewing allows enzymes to break apart the nutrients. Therefore, instead of quickly gobbling down your food, taking the time to chew is vital.

Choosing what you eat is important. If you’ve noticed you’re experiencing an increase in constipation, you may be eating a diet too high in fat or sugar. You may want to increase your fiber intake by using a supplement or adding more vegetables to each meal.

Proper hydration is a vital component of maintaining a healthy digestive system and avoiding fecal impaction. Remember, coffee and sodas don’t properly hydrate. The main purpose of the digestive process is the increase of nutrients and the reduction of bodily waste. Thus, if you increase your fiber levels you must consequently increase your water consumption to avoid clogging your intestines.

For those who eat by the book, vitamins may be the reason for constipation. Vitamins, even when used properly, can cause constipation. Iron supplements are among the most notorious.

A colon cleanse is another way to further thwart constipation or fecal impaction. A colon cleanse is not appropriate for everyone however, especially if you have pre-existing medical conditions. If your doctor advises you against cleansing your colon, they may instead tell you to drink prune juice after every meal.

Children who show signs of constipation should be watched closely by parents. Fecal impaction should not be allowed to develop. Parents can think about the time constipation started and examine their child’s eating from that point on to target a possible dietary cause of the constipation.

If no changes have occurred parents should take the child to their pediatrician for medical examination. Swallowing small objects is not uncommon in small children and can often be the reason for constipation. Obstruction of the intestinal tract by a swallowed object can be life threatening. Because simple x-rays will show any obstructions, it’s worth the expense to have one done.
